But there is also the consideration that I may be born into a family that did support slavery, maybe even had a slave, back in the day. I think to be realistic I would have to say I would probably be for it unless I was a super lucky kid.
And then the North was not completely perfect either. If I remember correctly they made slaves fight with them against the South after they had saved them from the slave drivers, which does not seem much more respectful than making the work your farm.
To answer the question:::: With my modern knowledge, I support the North. But if I was born back then- it really depends on the family and region I was born into.

How do you know he was asking about the American Civil War??
if he wasn't talking about the AMERICAN civil war I have little knowledge on any other civil war. lol
John - I can tell you right now you have some ancestors who owned slaves. We have some family from your Bestfah's side of the family who came over from England in Colonial times, who landed in Virginia and did own slaves. I have a book about it if you'd like to see it. We also have some prominent people in the family, including at least one Senator. And I think one guy got hung for being a horse thief. So it isn't ALL pretty. :)
The good news is with each generation we improve ourselves. Just think, two or three generations ago there weren't ANY democrats in the family that I know of. LOL.
THE SOUTH SHALL RISE AGAIN
